Albums

The discography of American rock group Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, and several compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the group, members worked as session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their previous albums, and was criticised for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group, and the group held auditions for the new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by scouring through old demos and tapes to release a special record called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto embarked on the tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included recordings from the tour and an interview with the band.

The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich.
